Matapouri rests in the heart of Tutukaka - one of my favourite strips of Northland coastline. I just loved the light pouring through the surrounding hills. When I'd finished this painting Helen's eye picked out a bearded face in the cloud to the far left - I like to think it's God looking down and enjoying the view.
