This is one of my favorite scenes in Northland. Proctor's Beach is just north over the hill from Ocean's Beach. This painting is not so much about capturing the exact likeness of the place, but more about expressing the vitality and raw power of nature's elements. After painting "After the Storm V" on a diamond shaped canvas I revisted this scene, only recently painted squarely in "Easterly at Proctors" after seeing that it too would lend itself well to the angles of a diamond canvas. As a happy coincidence the diamond shape also emphasizes the quarterly placement of the 4 elements.
