This is the third painting of this scene. Interesting in that the first painting was the largest, and this, the third, is the smallest. Usually I paint the other way around, working out the problems wi th the smaller one first. Hence this last one, albeit the smallest, is in my oppinion the most well resolved. I was recently pleased to meet someone who was married on the beach below where the hill is casting it's evening shadow.

At the top of the big sand dune at Ocean's Beach I was lucky enough to catch this awesome scene on camera as the last of the sun's rays pierced the hillside. With that and some mental notes I've tried to recreate the expansiveness of this awesome beach.
