This is the second painting I've done of this scene in triptych. I liked it so much the first time, I wanted to see if I could improve on it. The colour range is more in the red spectrum which makes for a warmer painting and I've intensified some of the details. You can see the first painting I did of this scene by clicking here.
Ocean Beach is often host to very large surf. The day I visited was no exception, as a howling easterly pushed the waves into the shore. My patient wife sheltered behind this sand dune with the baby to avoid being sand blasted while I ran around taking lots of photos and trying to memorise just how the light was reflected in the veils of blown sand and sea spray.
