Driving North on State Highway 1 towards Whangarei, look right at the top of the last passing lane before Otaika and you might see this scene whizzing past you. You can often buy fruit at the little rest area here, and it's a beautiful spot to sit and eat it. From here you can see, left to right; Onerahi, Mount Manaia, Whangarei Heads, Mount Aubrey and Limestone Island in front of them. It's no wonder we have such a high road toll in Northland with scenes like this to distract us from our driving!
